New corner

This morning I went to pasar (wet market) near my house. As usual, bought some vege & pork. Then my eyes spotted something else!

Lavender!

1 pot of lavender looks like this

closer ...

closest (how I wish I have pro camera!)

I’m not sure I bought it at reasonable price, RM8/pot, and I took home 2. I just love those flowers! I think I will go look for more Lavender plants to fill up my new corner ^_^

My Ginger Harvest

A few months ago, I found my left-over tiny piece of ginger was sprouting. I planted it beside my chili plant just for found.

It has been growing well, I've trimmed it's leaves several times.
Last few days, I think it's enough and decided to dig the whole thing out. What a surprise! Such a big lump under there.
What a nice feeling! Soooooooooo content! Guess who help me? I found the mama with her bunch of little kids among the soil. I've carefully put them back in their home to help me in the second badge.

[Xiang 2y9m; Qi 1y7m] Fun fair near Queensbay Mall

We went to Penang on 19.09.09 Saturday night, came back on Monday morning. Sorry Penang kaki – Steph & Yoki, I didn’t call you coz our schedules were so full.

I went there to attend my coursemate’s wedding ceremony, a Buddhist wedding ceremony. This is the first ever experience, with charming and monk conducting the ceremony, so special.

At night we make a trip to the fun fair near Queensbay Mall, very nice park indeed, and the kids have so much fun.

This one can fly up punya

This one just go round and round, I was so worried that Qi will stands up, coz there's lotsa space in front of them. Luckily the kids listen to me and hold on to the side only.

I think they enjoy this most, and it will go bumpy up and down, and round a track.

This one fly up high, and quite fast too!

Helicopter ride, I'll be dizzy if I were them.

Chu Chu Train ride, hehe, I'm tired and wanted a ride too :P

[Xiang 2y9m; Qi 1y7m] Lanterns Night

I still have so much work to do, but I wanted so much to write down the wonderful time spent in my hometown last weekend. Blogger sickness!
We went back to Ipoh on last Friday 18 Sep, we entered into Tapah rest area and were so surprise to receive our first ever Hari Raya Gift from The Lion Club.

The kids were so happy to meet each other again, all played crazily, laughing and running around. When one asked for milk, the others also followed.

On Monday night, my second sister took out the candles, lanterns and fireworks for the kids to play. We were so surprise to see that Xiang stepped back when my second sister lighted a fireworks stick for him. This was what he said:

不要吓我…. 我怕怕!” (Don’t frighten me … I’m scared!) He walked away so far whenever he saw the fireworks sticks being lighted up. I actually feel heart pain, coz I see the shadow of me in him. I am a very timid person; dislike all loud noises and horror movies. Xiang is just like me, sigh …

So he was playing with candles and lanterns all night. As long as he enjoyed himself, I don’t want to push him to accept the fireworks sticks.
Qi on contrary likes the fireworks sticks a lot! She kept on asking for more, and didn’t even want to play the lantern nor the candles anymore. I should go to pasar malam one of these days to buy more sticks for her.
It was a wonderful night, everyone of us, including adults enjoyed lighting up the candles and hanging up the lanterns. I hope that we could make another trip back to hometown again next week for the celebrations.

Porridge: Simple anchovies, carrot, tomota & potato

Saturday, my lazy bones are shaking again. I've no mood for cooking today as I have been cooking lunch & dinner for the past week. But I still have to prepare for my kids lunch.

My super easy soup base works for me again ^_^ Add a large spoonful of fried anchovies + small onion (which I stored in my fridge) to water, dump 1/3 of carrot, 1/5 of tomato & 1/3 of potato.

I maintained the carrot, tomato & potato in the soup, filtering out the anchovies and directly put all into the rice cooker with rice. In less than 1 hour, my kids' porridge was done! Hahahahaha, call me super lazy mom!

Xiang was giving face to me, he finished off a large bowl of it. Qi on the other hand only can finish half of her portion. Her teething problem seems to be disturbing her appetide.

[Qi 1y6m] Big Small Eyes

11 Sep 2009, Friday

On Friday morning, I was shocked to see Qi's left eye.

Her left eye's lid was swollen and reddish. She kept on rubbing her left eye while saying "癢癢!". We guess that it's mosquito bite. Since it is time for her to take her 18 months injection, I asked the paed to check on her eyes as well.

On the way to paed visit, she suddenly said this non-stop "BA BEL ..... BA BEL" while trying to reached something behind kakak (Qi sat on kakak's lap). Kakak had no idea what she's talking about and I suddenly realised that kakak didn't put on her safety belt. This little girl was actually trying to say "绑BELT"! We were laughing non-stop and of course kakak had to put on the safety belt (for safety & for Qi!)

When she saw the nice soft-spoken paed, again she cried furiously, worried for his painful poke again. The paed told me that she can't have her 18 months injection until her left eye recovered. The paed did a thorough check on her, pulling up her shirts. Qi continued to cry, screaming "mi ..... mi .....", begging me to help her. She even pulled down her shirt and said "close". Despite the chaos, I found it really funny and can't help laughing out loud.

Today, Saturday, we are relief that Qi's eye is getting better. Not so swollen as before but she still has a pair of "big small" eyes.

Playschool / Kindergarten

After searching for our new home in Kota Kemuning area for such a long time, we finally place a booking on a new house in Kemuning Utama. However, things are not confirmed yet as we have not get the bank loan approval for the new house.

Although it will be approximately middle of next year before we could finally move in, I am now searching for a good kindergarten or playschool for my kids. As that area is new to me, I do not know any good babysitter there. Therefore, I plan to put my son in a 4-year-old kindergarten class and my daughter in a 2-year-old playschool. Then, I'll be able to have a morning free time in order to do some paper work or going to bank for my husband.

Any mummies out there can recommend me good kindergarten or playschool there?

I like very much Xiang's current school, which is a fungates school. I've seen one at Kota Kemuning area - Sri Johan, but I do not know how's the reputation of that school.

[Xiang 2y8m] Udon noddles; Dish washing

As I am a lousy cook, I'm going to do the posting of my dish more often as a record for my future reference and also to improve on my skills. So, all comments & suggestions are welcome!
My sister gave me a pack of udon noddles, so I cook it as our lunch today. I uses anchovies + small onion as soup base. I have prepared a lot and keep in in freezer, so that in future I just need to dig out some and put them in water to make the preparation of the soup base faster. Lazy mom :P

*Wipe sweat* My son able to finish a big bowl without much fuss, even taking in some vegetables.

While I was cooking, my son kept on following me around. He helped me to wash the noddles and the fish balls (of course I need to do it again!). When I've done with cooking, he's still messing around in the kitchen, using the excuse of washing dishes to play water! I didn't stop him though, hoping that one day, he could be my helper after all! I finally put it to a stop when I declared it's meal time.

[Xiang 2y8m; Qi 1y7m] Playing Time

It has been a long long time since I invested in their toys. Since the H1N1 fear, we did not went to shopping for such a long time. I took the chance of my 3 hours free time to quickly went searching for their new toys in ToyRus last week. All the toys cost me a bomb, but the quality is very well worth it.

Their lacing set

I have been looking for this for a long time. I have another lacing set which has smaller beads & holes at home, but my kids motor skills are just not that good. So I finally got a bigger one.

Their new Slice & Play set

Both of them love it very much, and I'm surprise that Qi has the strength to cut the "vege" & "fruits" apart! But to my frustration, I just realised that enfagrow milk is giving out it as free gift!!! If I knew ealier, I would have bought something else! *arghhhh*

Their blocks set

Last time when I was young, I too have a similar set. This is indeed a good buy, boosting up their imaginations. We build small houses, tunnels and even slide (with my help most of the time). The kids have fun moving their mini toy cars around. I didn't manage to snap many pictures though, because they will run down the whole thing in less than 2 min!

Qi's doctor set
I did bought her a cheap-pasar-malam doctor set before, but it has all kinds of sharp edges and easily broken apart. Since Qi loves it so much, I've decided to invest in this set. See how she pretends doctor on my "injured hand", :P

Xiang's giant puzzles
I got a RM40 voucher and therefore, decided to buy this giant puzzles for Xiang. He loves doing puzzles. I think it's really worth it, he knows his ABC, but if I asked him "What's after D?", he won't know it's an E. I use the traditional method to teach him, since he knows ABC songs, I asked him to sing it out in order to get the next alphabet. After few days of doing, he's able to do better, singing ABC song to himself to complete the puzzles. Any mummies have better idea to let the kids learn about the sequence of ABC?
