Poor little bird

I was watering plants in the garden. Heard wings flattering and suddenly a tiny bird dropped on floor in front of me! 3 crows who were chasing after it eyeing nearby, waiting for their chances. Poor tiny bird couldn't fly.

I put it in a bucket and went out to fetch the kids. Both girls were so excited!

Hopefully it will recover soon.

Necessity of Enrichment Class .. ?

Xiang who is considered as 5 years old (counted by year of birth) went for a trial English Class, but he refused to attend and kept on crying to go back home. We finally gave up and decided to wait until he's ready. I was wondering whether it's too early for him to join such classes?

Qi loves to color, I wanted to send her to art class, but couldn't find one centre which will accept 3 years old kid. My husband too said it's too early for her to join such classes.

I'm just wondering, any moms here send their kids for enrichment / tuition classes? At what age did you kids join those classes? Or do you engage 1 to 1 tuition for your kids? Do you think it's effective and good for the kids?

Haiz .... his elbow ....

This happened on last Wednesday, 5th Jan 2011.

I brought Xiang to a trial English class in the evening, but I think he's really not ready for it. He was clinging to me and crying non-stop. I called my husband and due to the weak phone signal, he decided to come and look at Xiang to try pursuading him.

After waiting for awhile, from the corner of my eye, I saw my husband coming from over the street, then he slipped and fell on the steps of the shoplots. At first I thought that it was a minor fall, but then I realised that he couldn't stand up at all.

His elbow was dislocated!!! His left hand was in a strange twist and he couldn't lift his hand at all. Gosh, until now I couldn't imagine such a simple fall and do such a nasty injury! With the help of a helpful and kind mom (whom daughter was in the English class), we rushed him to nearest emergency.

The nurse was already calling the operation room for emergency operation, but prior to that, they took my husband for X-ray. My husband was lucky in a way that the dislocated bone actually goes back to the joint, and so finally no operation was needed and he was put in an arm sling.

Luckily, no broken bones, only the tissues, muscles and ligamens were torned and injured. He was on the arm sling so that the ligamens can heal better, and the Orthopeadic finally approved him of removing the arm sling today. However, there's a series of physiotheraphy to go through since now he can't fully bend and can't straighten his left hand.

Oh a minor heart-warm moment for record, when Xiang first saw his daddy back from hospital, he was really sweet. He told his daddy to rest, and instructed that if his daddy needs anything, just tell Kakak to get it. I guess that my husband's pain immediately decreased 50% after hearing it.

[Xiang 4y1m; Qi 2y10m] 2011 First Day in School

As we moved to a new area, we had to find another new kindergarten for my son Xiang and my daughter Qi. Actually we had a hard time deciding on this kindergarten, but finally we decided to give it a try.

Xiang started his 5 year old on 3rd Jan (Monday). On the first day, he didn't want us to accompany him to school, insisted on just dropping him in front of the door and let the teachers brought him in. How relief and happy we were when we sneaked in to have a peak on him, found out that he's not crying at all. A picture of him on the first day, he's very gan-cheong at that time actually, not wanting to speak to us and just nodding or shaking his head answering us. I guess that I was very gan-cheong too, didn't notice his slanting t-shirt until I post this up ^_^:

But at night, he was crying loud and throwing tantrums that he didn't want to go to school. He told us that he's scared. Luckily, the 2nd day he went to school without fuss or crying. *phew!!!*

Qi started her 3 year old class on 7 Jan (Friday), she told me that she wanted me to accompany her. Therefore, I accompanied her on that day, standing at the side of her class. She's doing great, no crying. She let the teacher brought her to toilet, playing toys with other kids, lining up to wash hand during snack time, eating on her own, cooperating with teh teacher and enjoying the singing time.

Then like a virus infected by her brother, she too cried on the night before her 2nd day to school *sigh...*, I knew that she's scared and tried comforting her by reminding her how she enjoyed her first day in school. I guess that this little girl is too scared to think or to be reminded, even asking me to stop talking and SLEEP!

This morning (her second day in school) she's doing great again, I let her down in front of the gate and she waved bye-bye to me. Again, sneaky-fox-mommy went sneaking on her and was really relieved that she was sitting on her place, no crying. When picking her up, she smiled and proudly told me that she didn't cry, therefore she got 2 stickers from the teacher (good treats from teacher!)

It's time to change our old generation 1 Playstation. So, we have finally bought Wii. Hehe, paiseh, this Wii has been in market for so long and we were so outdated right? But all of us are still so excited about it and enjoy the games a lot.

Xiang playing bowling, he's good in this game
